Te Whakaoranga is a project by volunteers to enhance the Kate Sheppard National Memorial site in Christchurch - and give this significant achievement the mana it deserves.

Te Whakaoranga Trust began with a group of volunteers from Women in Urbanism Aotearoa and has been underway for several years with key ideas for enhancing the memorial site. We are working to enhance the existing memorial tripartite artwork without altering it. This includes installing seating, elements for greater acknowledgement of wāhine Māori suffragists in our suffrage story, and constructing new, more inviting pathways into the site.
